Summer Survivor Itinerary

Day 1: Kajaani. Meet our Helsinki guest relations team at Vantaa International airport who facilitate your transfer to Kajaani in the Kainuu region of north east Finland; here you meet your guides and instructors. We overnight in local 5 star accommodation.

Day 2: Taiga Forest. Following a morning brief to review locations, routes and equipment, we depart the hotel for a prearranged entry point into the taiga forests. From here on we stay in the wilderness until day 4 when we return to civilisation. Surviving from what we can carry and catch, today is spent navigating the forests, learning to recognise safe ground and edible foods whilst observing the surroundings for signs of the wild animals that will be a partners on this journey …. We overnight outdoors under the “midnight sun” in our own purpose built accommodation.

Day 3: Bear country. This morning we continue our trek towards a prearranged entry point on the 342km (202 mile) chain of lakes that formed Finland's historical “Tar Routes;” here we pick up canoes and navigate the waterways towards civilisation. Today, the lakes are abundant with Perch, Pike, Zander and Trout which we will hopefully become a primary addition to our supplies as we learn to fish them; the night is spent outdoors in a lavuu or kota, traditional timber Lapp dwellings of the Sami people.
